Notification: Invalid characters

Problem:

This problem indicates that there are folder/files whose names contain invalid characters. Different operating systems have different sets of valid and invalid characters.

On a Windows operating system the following characters are not permitted in the folder/file name:

  • |
  • \
  • ?
  • *
  • <
  • “
  • :
  • >
  • /

On a Linux operating system the following characters are not permitted in the folder/file name:

  • /

On macOS operating system the following characters are not permitted in the folder/file name:

  • /
  • :

Since the client synchronizes data from various devices, it may become an issue if the folder/file is transferred to a device which can’t handle these characters in the name.

Solution:

If this notification appears in the client, you simply have to rename the respective folder/file and select a new name without these characters.
